Described as a “Southerner who saw sense”, Ian moved to the North East in 2005. Despite being here for 12 years, he is still not considered a local, and despite hailing from Essex is still called a Cockney.
Having worked for MTV and Nickelodeon in That There London in a role that saw him creating and pitching advertising and sponsorship opportunities to the likes of Babyliss, Glaxo Smihtkline and Mars, Ian moved North and took over a successful property investment company about 3 months before the infamous and awfully named Credit Crunch. He is still unsure if the two were related.
As such with an outdated website, little money and an iPad crammed with all sorts of free video and social media apps, he set about transforming the business into a student focussed property management company. It didn’t take long for the business to be based in their own shiny office in Heaton, managing in excess of 80 properties and employing a member of staff.
Since then Ian has advised and run digital and offline marketing campaigns for a variety of organisations including law firms, major tourist attractions and enough food and drink venues to never have to pay for a meal again! He also marketed a Skinny Pig. Google that one.
